Now that we have settled into the new school year, there are a couple of functions you need to know about.
February 14th; Friendship Day
The children may wear red/ pink and white on the day if they choose to. We will also be holding a Friendship Day Cake and Candy sale. Please allow your child to bring R5 to school to buy a treat. All of the money raised will go towards a year end gift for the auxiliary staff at BeNS.
Mid term break
School will close at 10:45am on Thursday 21st February for Mid Term break. There will be Aftercare that afternoon. School re-opens on Tuesday 26th February.
On Saturday 2nd March, the Kyalami Schools Group will be holding an Open Day on all our campuses. If you have any friends who are looking at schools for their children, please tell them about it.
Parent/ Teacher interviews will be held on Thursday 14th and Tuesday 19th March in the classrooms. Booking sheets will be put up at the door of each classroom for you to schedule your appointment with your child’s teacher.

Half term is already upon us. With the amount of coughs, colds and flu the children have had I think it is just as well that we are all going to have a break from each other.
Thank you for your support of the CANSA Sprayathon on Friday. Beaulieu preparatory School raised R10,152.90. There was a lovely vibe in the BeNS kitchen as our little ones had their hair sprayed. The mums and dad who were here to do the spraying did a wonderful job – thank you. Pictured above are some of our Grade Nought children with their designer patterns.
A big thanks must also go to Bianca Cranston who donated her hair to the CANSA association – that was an amazing thing to do!

Thank you to the staff who attended the Darren August talk last week. I thoroughly enjoyed it and I am sure those who were there did as well. He was very motivational and many of us came away feeling inspired to find the “seed of greatness in every child.”
The Grade Nought Sports Day was held on Saturday morning. We were so proud of our children who coped well with being put into the limelight. They showed team spirit while encouraging each other to do the best they could do. Thank you to the Grade Nought teachers
and the Playball coaches for giving up their Saturday morning for our children.
A big “Thank You” must also go to our parents for being so supportive. It was lovely to see you cheering for each other’s children and enjoying each other’s company.

Welcome back to school. I hope you have had an enjoyable break and that all the children are healthy and strong as we start the winter term.
I am pleased to announce that our much-loved Mrs Higgins will be staying with us in Grade Nought until the end of the year.
You may have known Mrs Lander was due to return to Grade Nought in the third term, after her maternity and long leave. In the interim, however, Mrs Lander has been considering returning to teach in the preparatory school, as this is the part of the school for which she
was originally trained. We had realised that should Mrs Lander take up a Grade One teaching position in the third term, disruption to the Grade Noughts, caused by a change of teacher, could be avoided.

It is hard to believe that the end of term is almost here.
‘Thank you’ to those of you who have donated Easter Eggs already. I met with the Africa Food for Thought people and they are very thankful for our ongoing support. We will keep collecting until the end of the term. It is so rewarding to know that our ‘Bread For A Buddy’ children will also be having an Easter Egg over this time.
The plastic collection will be finishing at the end of this term. I must say that I have found that the number of bags of rubbish I put out has decreased while we have been collecting the plastic bottles. It is such a good feeling to know that my rubbish is helping the environment instead of harming it for once.

So much has happened since our last newsletter. We have had a visit from Gary Botha, our CEO, who was welcomed by our Grade Nought children. They felt it was necessary to include him in all they were doing as the photographs above prove.
The children enjoyed the Valentines Day candy sale which was run by our Grade Nought parents. ‘Thank you’ to those parents who gave up their time to be here as well as to the mums who supplied the eats.
The Lumo race was well attended by our BeNS families and it looked as though fun was had by all. It always surprises me how energetic little people can be. Thank you to the BeNS staff for marshalling along Percheron road.
